Democrats slow down net neutrality bill … for now

POLITICO reports that House Democrats have been able to slow down, at least procedurally, the progress of a bill that would do away with the Federal Communications Commission’s net neutrality rule.

“The minority has requested another hearing on these issues,” a Republican spokesperson for the Energy and Commerce Committee told POLITICO in an e-mail. “We welcome the opportunity to shine additional light on the consequences of these regulations for job creators and American innovation.”

According to POLITICO, the committee spokesperson confirmed that another hearing would be held.

Congress’ plate may be full given that its in the middle of deciding how to fund the government until March 18th and beyond. Hopefully this is just a carryover from the state of the Union address where Republicans and Democrats decided to sit next to each other. Otherwise, the delay creates uncertainty, something investors, producers, and consumers don’t need.
